Fundraising Made Simple
In the United States, over half (54 percent) of adults do not receive treatment for their mental illness (Casali, M., 2022). For those who do in fact receive treatment, the delay between symptom onset and first treatment is long, with an estimated 11 year gap. 27% of adults in the US have some type of disability (CDC, 2023). An estimated 17.4 million (32.9%) adults with disabilities experience frequent mental distress (CDC, 2020). Of all of the adults with disabilities in Pennsylvania who receive waiver services, zero get to have that care across settings of hospitals and psychiatric treatment. All inpatient psychiatric treatment facilities deny care to people with limited abilities. All hospitals in Pennsylvania deny paid caregivers to support individuals with disabilities. Nearly one quarter of the homeless population in the US have some type of disability and/or mental illness (NACCHO, 2019).
We can make a change to support the divide in care among funding streams.
